Enoch was the father of Methuselah, the oldest man recorded in the Bible. Enoch is noticebly younger than his peers in the geneological list. The reason for this is because Enoch walked with God, pleasing Him greatly. Because of this, God took him and translated him, either meaning he was assumed up to Heaven or he is still alive today, or possibly someplace else.
According to the Epistle of Jude, he was a prophet with only one recorded prophecy.
He is an ancestor to Jesus (His earthly geneology, of course).
Enoch means trained and vowed, dedicated; profound, translated from the Hebrew word חֲנוֹךְ.
